The Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Health, Safety and Security and the National Academy of Sciences (NAS) are soliciting expressions of interest in the potential positions of Chief of Research, Associate Chief of Research, and Scientific Advisors at the Radiation Effects Research Foundation (RERF).
This announcement is not a solicitation of applications for employment. RERF is a binational foundation supported by the governments of Japan and the United States and is a global leader in the study of long-term effects of radiation exposure on human health. Information on the mission and specific studies being carried out at RERF in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan, can be found at http://www.rerf.or.jp. Positions for U.S. citizens may become available in the future at RERF for:
- Chief of Research (one of three directors of RERF)
- Associate Chief of Research
- Scientific Advisors
The salary and benefits for these positions are funded through a cooperative agreement between DOE and NAS. There is also a continuing need for Scientific Advisors (nonpaid), who meet once a year in Japan to review the RERF scientific program and may be involved in review activities throughout the year. The purpose of this announcement is to elicit specific expressions of interest in the potential positions listed above. If you would like to be placed on a list of interested persons for any of these positions, send an email to both Dr. Patricia Worthington at DOE ([email protected]) and Dr. Kevin Crowley at NAS ([email protected]). Please include a short statement describing your area of scientific expertise and your potential to contribute to the RERF program, other relevant managerial or collaborative research experience, and your contact information.
